The Great LEO Congestion Debate: What Does Crowded Mean in Space?
Is Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) really “crowded”? How does the industry define “crowded”? How big is the LEO parking lot and how do we manage traffic in a crowded environment? This panel, moderated by Brian Weeden of Secure World Foundation, brings thought leaders from both sides of this issue to engage in a healthy debate about whether the industry can police itself responsibly on congestion issues, or whether strict regulation and oversight is needed. Hear from panelist, Jessica Noble, General Counsel for NanoRacks, Darren McKinght, Senior Technical Fellow, LeoLabs, Sam Peterson, Business Development Director for Satellite Management Services, Swedish Space Corporation (SCC), and Space Data Association Executive Director, Pascal Wautheir.
Securing Commercial Systems for Government Use
A key factor that will determine whether government relies more on commercial space will be security – especially secure networks, supply chain, and mitigating risk of foreign access. Moderating the panel, Rebecca Cowen-Hirsch, Senior Vice President for Government Strategy and Policy, Inmarsat Government will lead the discussion with Brig Gen Peter Hoene, President and CEO of SES GS, Serge Cholley, Eutelsat’s Director Defense Security & CSO, and Brig. Gen. Jeth Rey, Director, Army Futures Command Network Cross-Functional Team. Industry 4.0: ESGs and Beyond the Bottom Line
ESGs – The Environmental Social and Governance Factors – have become one of the new “disrupting forces” of traditional financial “bottom line” metrics. Many investors also look at ESG factors as a way of weeding out bad investments, considering companies who embrace ESGs as a more reliable indicator of a success in the long run. NSR’s Kristen Kloster-Grady will lead the discussion amongst panelists Carolyn Belle, Director of Advanced Systems, Astroscale, Randy Segal, Partner, Hogan Lovells, Amber Ledgerwood, Senior Manager, Global Humanitarian Aid & Disaster Recovery, SES Networks, and Jason Rainbow, Senior Staff Writer, SpaceNews.
